Charlton Heston died :(
It seems strange, just a few days ago I was watching that silent film he did when he was 17 and still so much a boy. I will write up a proper post eventually, but I might have to re-watch all his movies (I have seen far too many) first.

I was actually reading the play today and thinking about how awesome it was and how lovely that I'll get to see it as a movie just over a year after I saw it as a play. I'll have to dig up that old episode of The South Bank Show with Michael Sheen..
You know, apparently there have been some test screenings in New York. LUCKY, lucky people.

ETA: OMG you guys, I'm looking around online and people are talking about Linus Roache! This is exciting!
People are so cute:
"He's got this charm and sophistication about him that really helps put some zest back into the show."
"Have to say, I didn't know of the actor before now, and to find out he's British just blew my mind. Being a Poughkeepsie gal, I was sure he was a born-and-raised New Yorker. Just an example of how great an actor he is!"
"As girly as this sounds, I think the new ADA is handsome, and I like his voice."

So, today is the first episode of the new season of Law & Order. This is super exciting because one of my favorite actors, Linus Roache, is joining the cast. I know some of you know who he is (and I'm sure many of you have seen him in something), but for those of you who don't know, here is a picspam. And, um, even if you do know him, here is a picspam. Not that I'm an expert or anything--I still haven't seen a lot of his stuff, but I like most of what I have. Plus, special occasion.
First, it must be said: his father is rather well-known as Ken Barlow from Coronation Street:

Now, his own stuff. I will start with the role I'll guess he's most well-known for: Thomas Wayne (aka Batman's dad) in Batman Begins.

I don't know about you, but he really stood out in this movie to me. I really love the scene with Bruce and his parents on the subway. It's just perfect, lovely, like some dream or a romanticized flashback. He just seems so right and good. I'm curious if he stood out the same way to others.
( More of his movies and TV shows )I have most of this stuff, by the way, and some is uploaded already, so if you want any of it, just let me know.
Oh, and Law & Order's on at 9pm tonight on NBC. Sadly I have spent far too much time planning a watching party with my mom and my sister.

Me: So the whole weekend I was watching Queer as Folk without headphones since Steph was away, and now I feel bad for my neighbors who had to listen to club music blasting at them at like 3 in the morning.
Damaris: Also they probably thought you were watching gay porn.
She says she watched the entire series in a month this summer. She tells me it starts to go downhill in a few seasons, though.
Hahaha don't you love it when the most obscure, random, farfetched thing you could imagine happening on a TV show--that you think you're the only person who wants it to happen--actually ends up happening on the show? Because that never happens to me but it kind of did this time. I'd think I dreamed it if I didn't keep flipping through the episodes a million times a day.
Ah, ignoring schoolwork is fun.

I finished rereading HBP today. I read it when it first came out, but I'd forgotten pretty much everything (except the end) since then. I wasn't as into HP then as I am now, so my main reaction was :o but now (with DH hindsight) I have some more thoughts.

This is so exciting. This guy is one of my favorite actors and he keeps getting small parts in bad movies (The Chronicles of Riddick ffs) which is really depressing because he's awesome. He was in a show called Kidnapped last year, which I believe was canceled after four episodes. So I was semi-excited to see he was going to be in that lawyer show with Julianna Margulies, except for fear that the show would suck or he's get shoved into another tiny part again. But this is way better (and I guess he's not doing that show anymore?). I love Law & Order anyway, and he's going to have a huge part. So.. he's actually going to be famous now, I guess? Oh, this is weird. I'm assuming they'll make him American for the show, since he's played Americans lots of times. He has a really good American accent. It sounds lived-in. You can hear the history behind his words and it gives him character. It would totally work as the voice of a New York prosecutor. Oh, and Sam Waterston will still be on the show, yay. This is so cool. And now I'm going to go watch Priest for the millionth time.

Netflix recommended this movie "Emmanuel's Gift" to me, and I just glanced at it and I thought it was one of those Emmanuelle pornos. And I was really wondering why they would recommend it to me. But then I saw the summary started, "Oprah Winfrey narrates this inspirational look at living with a disability in Ghana.." and realized my mistake. HAHA.
By the way, did you know that the Haitian from Heroes was in a bunch of those Emmanuelle movies? Highly amusing.
